When deciding what your creative might look like you need to define your tone

Here are 5 top questions to ask yourself when considering the tone of your creative.

Is it….

  1. Humorous
  2. Corporate
  3. Inventive
  4. Nostalgic
  5. Market Authority
  6. Innovative leader

If you can answer which of these personalities best represents your brand, then this will start to shape the visual direction that you take with the creative.

For example, if you want to be humorous, the colours and fonts need to be fun and playful. If you want to be nostalgic you could go with a retro theme using imagery that represents the era of your choice.

Not only will the decision on the personality help form the creative, but it will also help to build the tone of voice that you use. If that’s corporate or market authority, then the copy should be clear and accurate with an informative tone. If innovative, and market-leading, it could be a lighter more youthful voice.

As we head towards step 6, you should now have a clear idea of the following:

  1. How to set a budget for your Christmas Marketing Campaign
  2. Plan your timeline for your Christmas marketing campaign
  3. Planning your Campaign
  4. Getting the Creative right – Part 1 Creating the story
  5. Getting the Creative right – Part 2 Creating a personality

All of the above has prepared you for writing a killer brief, which is up next!
